Amazon unveils £50 Fire tablet with quad-core processor
Amazon has been looking for ways to re-invigorate tablet sales of late, and one of the ways they’re rumored to be doing that is by delivering a Kindle Fire.
But Amazon does claim this little tablet is more durable than iPad Air, and has two times more processing power than Samsung’s competing Tab 3 Lite. You’ll also be thankful to learn that Amazon has included front- and rear-facing cameras – they’re basic, but they’ll work in a pinch. Amazon’s updated Fire Kids Edition will come with a new Kindle Tablet housed inside a bespoke kid-proof case, as well as one year of Amazon FreeTime Unlimited, 20k curated kids sites and YouTube videos as well as a two-year warranty.
Amazon is taking gaming a bit more serious as it has announced the Fire TV Gaming Edition.
The Fire tablet comes with OS 5 “Bellini”, which has the “look and feel of a magazine”. That’s right: for a cool Ulysses, a new Amazon Fire tablet can be yours.
Amazon today introduced all-new Fire HD tablets, designed from the ground up for entertainment with a 8-inch or 10.1-inch widescreen HD display.
Undoubtedly, the Amazon Fire is as entry-level as it gets, but the true highlight of the slate is its price tag.
It’s available in black, magenta, blue and tangerine with the black coming on September 30, and the rest launching a week later on October 6.
The New Fire Kids Edition is also built from the ground up, and is now cheaper at $100. It offers a 16:10 HD display and a 1.5GHz quad-core processor.
You’ll also get access to Amazon Underground, which features hundreds of premium apps for free. Devices will ship on or after September 30th.
“The Fire TV Stick with Voice Remote brings voice search for less than £45”.
“We think customers are going to buy a ton of these tablets”, said Cameron Janes, vice president of product management at Amazon Devices.
The Fire can be purchased as a single device, priced at $50 (pre-order starts today), or you can choose to purchase a 6-pack of Fire tablets for under $250.
