Amendola out for Patriots
The New England Patriots have officially ruled out linebacker Jamie Collins, wide receiver Danny Amendola and tight end Michael Williams for Sunday night’s game against the Denver Broncos.
Without Amendola and injured No. 1 receiver Julian Edelman (foot), the Patriots (10-0) are going to Denver without two of their top three players on the receiver depth chart. Giardi is the first to report the team’s final decision. A week before that, the Patriots lost running back Dion Lewis for the year with a torn ACL. Amendola suffered the knee injury against the Bills on Monday, and he was limited in practice Thursday and Friday after not participating on Wednesday.
New England has had five wide receivers on its injury report this week, which means that quarterback Tom Brady will have to get creative. Gronkowski leads the team in receiving yards and touchdowns this season, and he will need to have an impact performance Sunday with Amendola out.
The Patriots also recently put receiver Aaron Dobson on injured reserve, leaving them very thin at the position.
