American Dad! renewed for two seasons
According to Deadline, TBS has ordered two more seasons of American Dad, the Seth MacFarlane show that we choose not to review just to spite its fans.
American Dad is arguably the best of Seth MacFarlane‘s television slate (unless we’re counting Cosmos), but its future was put in question after it made a move from Fox to TBS in 2014.
The cartoon arrived on TBS previous year for its tenth season, and has become one of the cable network’s top scripted series, having previously aired on Fox. TBS has been good to ‘American Dad, ‘ there’s no doubting that – thankfully, it doesn’t look like that’s about to change anytime soon, as the network just renewed the series for another two seasons. As part of the deal, encores of the comedy will air on sibling network Adult Swim. Seasons 12 and 13 will also each include 22 episodes.
The show follows the adventures of Central Intelligence Agency agent Stan Smith, voiced by MacFarlane, and his family and housemates living in the fictional Virginia suburb of Langley Falls. Overall, American Dad! averages 4 million total viewers per episode, when factoring in repeats on Adult Swim and on-demand and digital streams.
TBS is looking to grow its original programming to more than 15 series over the next two years.
“American Dad! has thrived since coming to TBS and Adult Swim“, said Deborah Bradley, executive vice president of networks optimization and content commercialization for Turner Broadcasting.
American Dad is my favorite show! I find it’s only gotten better and more creative with the move to TBS…don’t ever cancel it!!!
