American Voters Want Trump To Stop Tweeting
According to the Quinnipiac poll, 59 percent of American voters say he should shut down his personal Twitter account, and 35 percent disagreed.
Trump has been surprisingly candid on the social-media platform, throughout both his campaign and the post-election period.
Voters also appear to disagree with Trump’s intention to nominate Supreme Court Justices that would overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision establishing a woman’s right to an abortion. Sixty-three percent believe the economy will be in good shape in the future, and almost 60 percent believe Trump will create good jobs.
“This honeymoon phase in common for new presidents”, Morning Consult’s co-founder said of the polling numbers.
Their view of the incoming president could be coloring the outcome: While 74 per cent said Trump is intelligent, 57 per cent believe ‘he is not level-headed’.
More than 1,000 people answered whether or not they thought Trump would make a good president, and a slight majority (53%) said they think he’ll do a fairly good or very good job.
At around the same time this year in 2008, President Obama’s election saw him given a favourable rating of 68% in a Gallup poll.
Tim Malloy, the assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, said the poll’s findings suggest that while American voters gave Trump the thumbs up, some of his campaign’s immigration policies will not get the same treatment.
That account has 12.2 million followers – fewer than Trump’s.
Overall, the share saying things in the USA are going well today has dipped from its late-October high, 47% say things are going well, down from 54% then.
The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus two percentage points.
Poll results are based on phone interviews Quinnipiac University conducted with registered voters from November 17 to November 20. the poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent.
Since joining Twitter seven years ago, Donald Trump has tapped out more than 34,000 tweets.
