Amid mounting tension, Israel seals off Al-Aqsa compound
“I join with so many Israeli leaders and citizens who have condemned the hateful stabbing attacks at the Jerusalem Pride March and the murderous terrorist arson in Duma”.
One of those stabbed in Jerusalem, Shira Banki, 16, died as a result of her wounds on Sunday.

Critics say Israel doesn’t enforce the law when it comes to settlers because of the political power they wield in Parliament and because they are still perceived in some circles as Zionist pioneers who are settling the land like the vanguard settlers who established the Jewish state.
According to the Shin Bet security agency, the 23-year-old Ettinger was arrested for “involvement in an extremist Jewish organization”.
Friday’s torching of a Palestinian home killed a toddler and seriously hurt his parents and brother, causing an outcry overseas and vows by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to crack down on what he deemed “terrorism” by “criminals in our nation”.
This particular attack was unprovoked by the Palestinians and has shocked both the Israeli and Palestinian communities at large.
Suspected Jewish attackers torched a Palestinian home in the occupied West Bank, killing an 18-month-old toddler and injuring three family members.
The ruling ended Israeli-initiated legal discussions disputing the status of the West Bank as occupied territory and that the Fourth Geneva Convention applies to it.
“There was no urgent need to arrest here, other than some kind of desire to show, ‘Here, we’re doing something, here, we’re arresting, ‘” Zemer said.
The graffiti was indicative of so-called “price tag” violence – nationalist-motivated hate crimes by Jewish extremists.
A month before the church attack, Ettinger called on his blog for more attacks on Christian religious sites.
“The security cabinet views the arson and murder in Duma as a terrorist attack in every respect”, said a statement released by the Government Press Office after the meeting. He moved to the northern city of Safed, a hub for Jewish religious mystics. “The violent activists conceive of themselves as having a sort of charismatic-prophetic authority and what authorizes these extreme actions is “the voice of God” within them”.
Clashes also erupted between the worshipers and the Israeli forces, who reportedly fired stun grenades and rubber-coated bullets at the Palestinians. Villagers said the arsonists were settlers from a nearby Jewish settlement.
