Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s swan song may have raked in more than half a million Pay-Per-View buys, but compared to his previous bout it was an obvious flop. With the fans clamoring to see Mayweather fight the British boxer Amir Khan in his last ever professional boxing match, Mayweather had the opportunity to give the fans what they wanted.

While we take nothing away from Berto, no one would’ve given him a realistic chance of beating Mayweather.

But don’t plan on a rematch with Mayweather. “They deserve excitement”, Berto said.

Mayweather’s 2014 fights with Maidana were on the low end of his PPV sales.

The numbers aren’t in the same stratosphere as Mayweather’s May 2 mega-bout with Pacquiao, which generated 4.6 million buys.

Mayweather certainly isn’t new to controversy, but the manner in which he chose to leave the sport has left a bad taste in the fans’ mouths.

According to calculations by the global Business Times news site, the Mayweather vs. Berto fight may have generated as little as $38 million in revenue. Rafael reminds readers that the WBO quickly stripped Mayweather of championship distinction after the Pacquiao fight (elevating Timothy Bradley to full titlist), but the WBC and WBA are slyly skirting their own rules in deference to Floyd Mayweather.

Speaking recently to Steve Carp of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Top Rank boss issued an ultimatum to Pacquiao: Go have a medical checkup, or there will be no fight. 

Despite all the talk about a possible comeback by the undefeated former pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr, his well-known strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza believes a comeback is far-fetched.

Mayweather’s six-fight deal with Showtime concluded with the Berto fight. McCarter has won two of their three fights.

Mayweather, as expected, threw more jabs than Berto, connecting with 83 of 191 jabs thrown (nearly 45%), while Berto managed to connect with a paltry total of 39 of 301 jabs thrown (about 13%), once again highlighting the impregnable defensive guard of Mayweather.
