Amnesty: Russian airstrikes killing hundreds of Syrian civilians
At least 200 civilians have been killed by Russian airstrikes in Syria since Russia’s air campaign began there in September, according to a new report by Amnesty International.

“Of course nobody would say that it is not hard in Syria’s circumstances to carry out such an [impartial] investigation, particularly since these areas, the targets of Russia’s attacks are of course under the control of rebel and in many cases extremist Islamist groups, which of course very much restricts what local members of the public are allowed to say”, Shoebridge explained.

While Russia has remained silent on civilian casualties inflicted by its forces and claimed that it is attacking only “terrorist targets”, the United States has also been mum on the subject.
The Kremlin doesn’t have information about any such incidents or the “reliability of the data cited by Amnesty International”, Peskov told reporters Wednesday on a conference call.
Yesterday, the Turkish Prime Minister condemned a suspected Russian attack that killed scores of people in the city of Idlib on Sunday. Medical facilities have special protection under global humanitarian law, and attacking them can amount to a war crime.

It said it had put its findings to the Russian authorities, but received no “substantive response”.
