Amy Poehler & Kate McKinnon Play Dueling Hillary Clintons on “Saturday Night Live”
They brought back for their fans some of the most successful characters from their tenure on the show, namely Feys Sarah Palin and Poehlers Hillary Clinton.
Hillary of 2015 is confident that she will finally be president come next year’s election. Sure. But while Tina and Amy semi-apologised for the dig, that definitely didn’t stop them going IN on this parody. If so, the night’s first post-monologue sketch certainly didn’t let you down.
The pair then riffed on the changes that have happened in eight years – ‘who’s Benghazi?’ asks 2008 Hillary – before finding out that the frontrunner for the Republican nominee was Donald Trump. The twist of who the second wives would be was not only hilarious to those of us at home watching but also to the audience who groaned through their laughs. While appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers alonside bestie Tina Fey and their Sisters costars, Meyers pointed out that their movie opens the same night as Star Wars: The Force Awakens. But after the chemistry between Schumer, Poehler and Fey, were hoping the Dope Squad makes an appearance in Amy Schumers new movie with Jennifer Lawrence.
Watch the “SNL” sketch, complete with a bipartisan dance party, below. They can be pretty raunchy and not every joke works, but the percentage of amusing to flat is higher than most comedies. Sprinkle in Bruce Springsteen and Lorne Michaels’ favorite Beatle singing “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”, and you’re already better than 90 percent of SNL episodes.
