Amy Poehler, Tina Fey Reprise Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin on ‘SNL’
As the real Hillary Clinton was fresh off the stage at the third Democratic debate, resident “SNL” Clinton impersonator Kate McKinnon was portraying her in a sketch.
Though 2008 Hillary is doubtful, when 2015 Hillary tells her that the leading Republican candidate is Donald Trump, they celebrate: “We’re going to be the president!”
Played by Burlington’s own Amy Poehler, who hosted Saturday’s episode with fellow former SNL cast member Tina Fey, 2008 Hillary reminds 2016 Hillary not to get too cocky.
Soon enough, they’re joined by Fey’s Sarah Palin, who makes her entrance by saying, “Oh geez, it looks like I went though time and space again”. Poehler’s Clinton greets McKinnon’s version by noting in that she’s modified her coiffure. But present Clinton grabs it and throws it on the ground.
She said: “I think that really it is a business and the fact that “Bridesmaids” made a tonne of money and was so amusing, and because it made money people were more willing to let Amy Schumer make money, because “Trainwreck” was really amusing, and then hopefully, knock on disco, hopefully “Sisters” will make money. Who cares!” Palin suggested.
The cast of the comedy gathered on Thursday’s Late Night With Seth Meyers with a slew of Star Wars action figures and explained why their film is the one to see this opening weekend.
In addition to the killer sketches, the show also teemed with musical magic. Getting to sing “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” alongside Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band and surprise guest Paul McCartney.
Fey and Poehler have been a winning combination for NBC before. “Take as many pictures as you can” – to the words of wisdom passed on by Poehler’s Irish Nana, their advice is something we should all take on board when fretting over the little things.
