But for decades, many thought the existence of The amusing Woman was as likely as Big Foot or The Loch Ness Monster.

I agree that Apatow’s films espouse a certain way of life, but I don’t necessarily see anything wrong with this.

“I don’t know why people say that. And then I reward myself with whiskey”.

Like Lena Dunham in Girls (which Schumer recently appeared in), Schumer reflects the present moment of many semi-confident, young, urban women fitfully seeking romance and professional success. There’s a good enough character in Amy and a good enough arc for her to sustain a whole film – but for 100 minutes, not two hours.

“I think I did understand the gravity of it”, she says.
