Analysts say HTC’s first VR headset likely to be pricey

Dan O’Brien, the head of VR at HTC said that the company was looking at building the best system which suggested that they may charge a premium for it too.

Those dates in all probability can’t come back quick enough for HTC.

It’s surprising to learn that there are even 70 VR HMDs to collect, though perhaps not so much when you consider the wave of mobile-based devices that have arrived over the past few years. Both headsets provide a 110 degree field of view.

The Oculus Rift will initially be shipped to Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, United Kingdom and United States.

Virtual reality fans are still divided over the recently announced Oculus Rift price, and if recent rumors are later confirmed, they might be in for more bad news in the near future if the rumored price of the HTC Vive VR turns out to be true. It was developed in collaboration with Valve, the developer beyond titles such as Half-Life.

Those who can’t afford the Oculus Rift right of the gate aren’t entirely excluded from the fun.

Light enough to hold in one hand, the Rift has one 2,160 x 1,200 OLED screen split across both eyes; a pair of built-in headphones; a black fabric-wrapped frame; and will be created to allow those with glasses to use the Rift without problems. The Oculus Touch is a pair of handheld controllers that will provide further immersion in VR by tracking your hand movements and gestures in three-dimensional space.

HTC Vive also offers a refresh rate of 90Hz rendering 90fps (frames per second). According to the Oculus co-founder, your “crappy” computer is what is standing between you and VR – not money. However, this is just the cost of the headset. Since the announcement, HTC was able to distribute some HTC Vive in areas where it can fully show its potential.

Even though the company hasn’t given any information regarding the price of this device, it will most probably exceed that of the Rift. A PC that will make you cough up something between $500 and $1000.
