Anantpur court issues non-bailable warrant against, MS Dhoni
A local court of Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Indian Twenty20 skipper Mahindra Singh Dhoni, Indian media reported Friday.
Here are five interesting facts of the controversy.
A case was registered against Dhoni under section 295 and 34 of the Indian penal code after a complaint was filed by social activist, Jayakumar Hiremath, against the cricketer for “denigrating” the Hindu God.
As Per Reports, Today Court issues a Non-bailable warrant against Dhoni and asked to appear in the Anantpur Court on 25 Feb 2016.
Dhoni’s management, though, said that Dhoni had nothing to do with the picture. At present, the skipper is in Australia to play 5 ODIs and 3 T20s against the hosts from January 12.
The magazine cover, for a story titled “God of Big Deals”, had an image of Dhoni morphed as the Hindu deity Vishnu, displaying various commercial brands, like “Lays chips”, and also holding a shoe in his hands.
The petitioner claims that the cricketer has hurt Hindu sentiments. While recent months have seen Dhoni under heavy criticism for both his captaincy as well as his batting, an off-field distraction would have been the last thing on his mind.
With a total of three cases already filed against the Captain for this issue, it seems Dhoni might finally have to appear in court to prove his innocence.
