Despite being the younger one, that hasn’t stopped it from being a real rival to Black Friday.
Now that Thanksgiving is firmly in the past, retailers are looking toward big sales for the remainder of the holiday season. On Black Friday, the shopper visited 4.3 stores and made a purchase at 67 percent of those stores.

Americans spent the holiday weekend binge shopping from their couches.
With discounts and persuasive ads, there was no doubt that they attracted numerous shoppers to come and purchased gifts for the holiday season.
More than 154 million consumers shopped in stores and online, which was about 3 million more than a year ago, according to a National Retail Federation survey released Sunday. In 15 malls, shopping center operator JLL reported 73 percent of it surveyed and found out that retailers were able to reach their target sales and made it became better than previous year. “I’m just delighted with President Trump”, said Allsop, who was shopping at Water Tower Place mall in Chicago on Saturday.
J.C. Penney Co Inc and Macy’s Inc were among department stores that had more promotions this year, Deutsche Bank analysts said.

In keeping with current trends, Internet buyers outpaced brick-and-mortar shoppers, the NRF’s data showed, with 44 percent of the survey’s respondents buying online while 40 percent went to a store. Expect flash sales galore, and massive discounts as retailers throw unsold Black Friday stocks online. Due to the number of people simultaneously inside shopping centers, some malls have opened on Thursday of Thanksgiving itself – now called “Gray Thursday”.
But Joyce Hill, a 67-year-old retired auto worker from Inkster, Mich., who was also shopping in Chicago, was anxious that Trump will cut back on Social Security.

Tablets had some of the steepest price markdowns online this Black Friday, with an average discount of 25.4 percent, Adobe said.
The figures, which come from Adobe’s Black Friday report, aggregate 22.6bn visits to retail websites, and account for 80 per cent of all online transactions from the top 100 USA retailers.
