Anderson says surgery was success, no timetable for return

The Denver Broncos running back panned a report Thursday from the NFL Network that he had “told people close to him that he’s done for the year”. He played the remainder of the game, finishing with 16 carries, a season-high 107 yards rushing and that touchdown.

“We need to get back to running the ball efficiently and becoming balanced and taking a lot of pressure off the passing game because that’s when they start dialing up all their rushes and their twist games and all that”. Just winning period is a good feeling.

Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said after beating the Texans last Monday night that he’d like to continue riding a 1-2 punch of C.J. “He played with it”. Anderson has denied he would miss the rest of the season, but that might be determined more by his body’s recovery time than anything else. Booker added 83 yards on 17 carries.

“I’m still a rookie right now and I’m still learning”, Booker said. “We’ve been having him work at fullback, so obviously he’s been working really, really hard here”.

The Broncos acquired A.J. Derby from archrival New England this week after getting such middling production from their tight end corps. “It’s a big day if I am going to be out there”.

“We’re trying to get some guys to Sunday”, Kubiak said. Playing behind Rob Gronkowski and Martellus Bennett, Derby had no catches this season. Like in any game against great pass rushers, the key will be getting a run game going. “… We have a good room here, as well”.

Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall also has missed practice time this week with a hamstring injury.
