Andhra CM invites Singapore PM for Amaravati foundation stone-laying ceremony
Chandrababu Naidu has requested Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to extend the Island nation’s cooperation in setting up world class infrastructure in the State enabling it to develop as a knowledge economy.
According to sources, he has hired an Air India flight to go to Singapore from Chennai.
Andhra Pradesh’s Finance Minister Y. Ramakrishnudu and Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana and senior officials are accompanying Naidu.
Chandrababu Naidu then extended invitation to the Singapore Prime Minister for the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the state’s new capital Amaravati which is slated to be held on October 22.
During the meeting, Chief Minister thanked the Singapore Prime Minister for extending all the help from their side in making the master plan for Amaravati and submitting them as planned.
The State government quoted the Prime Minister as saying that Singapore would support Andhra Pradesh and share whatever expertise and experience it has.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister explained the historical significance of Amaravati and outlined how he plans to transform AP into a logistics hub.
“We have to see how they are going to participate in the development of the state capital“, Naidu said. Loong replied in the affirmative and said he will definitely try his best to make it to the ceremony. He also explained to Mr. Loong the main features of Amaravati and how it will be constructed as a sustainable and smart city for future generations.
Mr. Lee Hsien Loong appreciated the Chief Minister for ensuring that the State stood second in the country in attracting investments.
Earlier, in the welcome address, Gopinath Pillai, ambassador for Singapore government, said the overwhelming response at ISAS was a mark of Naidu’s popularity in Singapore. He will also review the planning for the civic district, Marina Bay and also study the concept plan and the master plan.
