Andhra MP booked for slapping Air India official
Mithun Reddy, a YSR Congress MP from the Andhra Pradesh was charged for allegedly slapping an Air India station manager at the Tirupati airport after an argument. “All the available technical information at the new global terminal building was handed over to the investigating team for further probe on Thursday itself”, he added. There were reports of MP subsequently pacified the employee and the latter did not file a complaint.
Rajasekhar said he was assaulted after he objected to the language used by the lawmaker.
The MP reportedly asked the station manager to accommodate him and but the official said he couldn’t accomodate him and even apologised.
Going into details, Mithun had reached the Tirupati airport about 20 to 25 minutes before the flight’s departure with some of his relatives to board AI 541 to Delhi where the Parliament session is being held. The official refused to allow the MP to board the flight as boarding counters for domestic flights close at least 45 minutes before departure time.
Reacting to the incident, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju said, “We are not trying to say anything”. The MP has denied the charge.
According to the complaint, the MP, who represents Rajampet constituency in Kadapa district, shouted at the Air India manager before slapping him.
