Andie MacDowell Is Refused First Class Seating
Actress Andie MacDowell took to social media to complain about being moved from her seat in first class to a seat in coach on her American Airlines flight on Friday.
The trouble apparently began when an airline employee, who was later determined to be a “bad egg” by the Ground Hog Day star, demoted her from First Class to coach, because there was no room for her dog in the first row of the plane. After assumedly laying awake in bed all night – running over the dialogue she had with that rude flight attendant and coming up with some killer zingers she could have said – she took to Twitter again just to stipulate that she’s not a diva and doesn’t hate tourists or poor people.
American Airlines allows pets to travel with their owners in cabin as a “carry-on” if the pet meets certain age, size and health requirements and if they stay in their carrier under the seat in front of the owner.
“Actually had great company but I paid for something I didn’t get”, she replied to one critic.
While she sad she enjoyed her time in economy, she still wanted a refund from the airline.
After MacDowell started to get inundated by tweets suggesting it was she who was rude and on a power trip, she both expressed her regret for ranting and justified her anger.
One user wrote: “She didn’t gripe about being in tourist”. “I’m sorry if it sounded that way I’m happy taking a bus and preferred dirt roads it’s the principle”, she told another.
Many did sympathize with the point that she was simply asking for what she had already paid for, while some others said she was complaining about a ‘first world problem’.
MacDowell continued to defend herself throughout the weekend, and eventually shared her regrets on Sunday, January 24.
