Andre Ayew backs Swansea to get back into shape
Garry Monk says it would take just one big result to ease the pressure on his shoulders – and sees no reason why Swansea can not get it at Anfield on Sunday.
It has been reported that a board meeting was due to take place on Monday to discuss Monk’s future, but Sky Sports News HQ understands that no such meeting is scheduled.
Senior board members are concerned by the Swans’ run of one win in nine Premier League games, with the Welsh club lying 14th in the table.
And, despite a good start to the current campaign, the Swans have found themselves in a run of poor form having won once in ten games.
“With my family, I made a decision to go to Swansea, it was somewhere where I had the confidence of the manager and the president 100%”.
Boos were heard around the Liberty Stadium at the weekend as Swansea fell two goals behind against Bournemouth before Jonjo Shelvey and Andre Ayew scored before half-time to share the points on the day. “You need that in football when things are hard”, Ayew told the club’s website.
“Obviously, that’s great for him and great for us and we’re all hoping he can continue doing that”.
“We have been working just as hard on the training ground – there’s no lack of effort from any of the players so on that side of things if your question is does he have the players’ backing, he definitely does”.
The Ayew brothers have also enjoyed a fruitful relationship at the Black Stars as the duo are now instrumental players in Ghana squad.
“Everything’s going to get back into shape and we just need some time”.
