Andrew Garfield Weighs in on Hanging Up Spider-Man Suit, Tom Holland
Now, Garfield is opening up about getting fired from the role and about Tom Holland’s casting in Captain America 3: Civil War. However, that second reboot ended even more abruptly, with no sense of satisfaction from the garbled mythology that Sony’s braintrust of writers and director Marc Webb had attempted to tackle.
As for how he feels giving up the Spider-Man reins, Garfield says he’s happy to be just another friendly neighborhood spider-fan.
“It feels lovely, especially because Tom Holland is a really, really great actor”, said Garfield, who portrayed the string-slinger in Sony’s two (originally supposed to be three-)-part “Amazing Spider-Man” series. The 31-year-old also talked about Holland’s dancing background, saying that his body has got the right form for the role.
Fair play, Mr Garfield. It’s heavily rumored that Disney will be showing off the first trailer for the next big Marvel movie, and that it does contain a scene with Tom Holland wearing his home-made Spider-Man costume. What are your thoughts on Tom Holland casting?
Garfield is actually excited to be back in the audience as a fan once again of the beloved Marvel character. Following that, he will debut in his own solo film, which will be in theaters on July 28, 2017, where he will be joined by Marisa Tomei as Aunt May. He’s the most grounded, relatable of superheroes. “He captures that. And he can do a standing back-flip”, Watts said. And I think the stakes are increased in that his struggle through high school is very real and isn’t just a sort of side note.
