Android add-ons for Docs and Sheets
Yesterday, Google rolled out a bunch of third party add-ons to Google Sheets and Docs, making it convenient for users to use the tools on their smartphones. The search engine giant has added nine add-ons on Docs and Sheets, which include Google Classroom, Zoho CRM, DocuSign, Scanbot, and Teacher Aide. In the coming years, developers are setting their sight on to creating their own add-ons and pass them to Google for evaluation. Once an individual user has enabled offline access in Google Drive, a subset of their Docs, Sheets, and Slides files are synced to their computer or device.
Google initially teamed up with eight partners on building out integrations for third-party software and the mobile versions of its office tools. With add-on AppSheet, they can easily create mobile apps from the data present in the Sheets in an instant.
All these add-ons are available for the two Google Phone apps on the Google Play Store in one dedicated section and/or in the Docs and Sheets add-ons menu.
Scanbot: Lets you scan business documents and insert their contents into Docs. If Google deems them worthy, it will let them integrate with Sheets and Docs.
With the help of ProsperWorks, users can import their CRM data and create advanced dashboards, graphs, or reports, from their Android device.
The launch of Docs add-ons was perceived at the time as a response Microsoft’s comparable Office feature: Apps for Office. The company will now allow third parties to extend its office suite on Android.
The DocuSign integration, for example, allows users to bring up documents saved in either Docs or Sheets and sign them directly, without having to navigate away from the main app. Google also included support for a second document signing app with the PandaDoc add-on.
