Andy Murray wins Montreal Masters
When asked if he felt preparations for the US Open could not be going any better, Murray remained grounded, adding: “It’s hard to say”.

The British number one from Dunblane, who is now up to second in the world rankings, is unbeaten in 48 matches when winning the first set this year.

Having landed that huge psychological blow, a despondent Djokovic had no answer to Murray who went on to take the title but only in the dramatic circumstances in-keeping with the match as he saved two break point before converting his fifth match-point. “I lost to a better player today”.
It appears that for some people, the high of watching one of the world’s best athletes battle it out on court just isn’t enough.
“It was good to get a quick win like this”, said Djokovic.
The Scotsman, unique among top players in being coached by a woman, said he has seen a picture of his French mentor’s baby.
Murray had six more winners, but also six more unforced errors, than Djokovic, but it was his efficiency at the net that stood out most.
“Someone is smoking weed, I can smell it, I’m getting dizzy”, the World No. 1 reported to the chair umpire in an exchange picked up by television broadcast cameras. He deserved it. He stepped in, played some great shots. Djokovic then put pressure on the Murray serve to the championship where he had 2 break points.
“It’s impossible to be extremely close when we’re playing in these sorts of matches because it’s so mentally challenging and physically demanding and you need to try to still have that competitive edge as well. Probably me and my tennis are the last thing on her mind just now, which is totally understandable”.
