Di Maria failed to settle at United, on or off the pitch, but PSG’s former Chelsea defender David Luiz, a friend from their time at Benfica, says he is still a world-class talent.
According to former Real Madrid star Zidane, PSG have a team effective enough to dominate French championships, but players like Di Maria are what make the difference in Europe.
Last season the winger managed just four goals in 32 appearances for the Portuguese side, but the space and chances he creates are more important to his game than hitting the back of the net. I believe in him and he has to feel that and I hope he shall show it.

Di Maria said as recently as June that he wanted to stay at United, but it became apparent that he had his heart set on a move to the French capital in the last couple of weeks.
Despite being named in United’s party for the final stage of his club’s tour, Di Maria was not in the matchday squad.
Memphis Depay’s arrival, though, appeared to signal a shift on the pre-season tour, as the Dutchman played close behind Wayne Rooney with Michael Carrick and either Morgan Schneiderlin or Bastian Schweinsteiger deployed as the two holding midfielders.
PSG manager Laurent Blanc has said a deal for Di Maria, 27, is close.

The most pressing concern centres on goalkeeper David de Gea, whose unconvincing performance against PSG hinted at the 24-year-old’s lack of focus in the wake of his failure to secure a summer move to Real. The Brazilian shone against Club America, scored against San Jose Earthquakes and helped cement a victory over Barcelona.
