Angels rally from late 4-run hole to beat Royals 7

A four-run uprising in the eighth inning Wednesday prevented the American League Central-leading Royals from recording their eighth straight victory at home and sixth consecutive overall.

Pedro Alvarez homered in a seven-run first inning and the Pittsburgh Pirates broke an eight-game losing streak at Busch Stadium, beating the St. Louis Cardinals 10-5 Thursday night.

The Kansas City Royals look for a win after winning five of their last six games.

Eric Hosmer ripped a run-scoring double in Wednesday’s 7-4 setback to Detroit for his 20th RBI in his last 25 contests, but is 0-for-8 with three strikeouts against Thursday starter Garrett Richards.

Rios, Lorenzo Cain and Drew Butera drove in runs off Richards early in the game, and Hosmer and Kendrys Morales appeared to put it out of reach when they touched up the Angels bullpen.

Kansas City Royals pitcher Jeremy Guthrie throws in the first… Jeremy Guthrie takes the hill, and he’s 8-7 with a 5.84 ERA and 60 strikeouts this season. The Royals are 39-19 in their last 58 during game 1 of a series and 5-2 in Guthries last 7 starts. The former All-Star closer allowed four runs and four hits and a pair of walks without retiring a batter.

The Angels have given us no reason to pick them on the road in the second half of the season. Give me the better team at home for the cheap price.
