Ann Coulter faces backlash after using expletive about Jews on Twitter
During last night’s televised debate between the 11 main candidates for the 2016 election, Ann Coulter, a conservative pundit and author, tweeted to her 660,000 followers: “How many f–ing Jews do these people think there are in the United States?”
Coulter was unfazed by the onslaught of criticism she received in 2012 for calling President Obama a “retard”. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and N.J. Gov. Chris Christie – reiterated their support for Israel during their wrap-ups. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, who said he would move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem as one of his first acts as president; Sen.
In a separate tweet, she replied: “Maybe it’s to suck up to the Evangelicals”.
Followers accused Coulter of being “anti-Semitic”, and “desperate for attention”.
Coulter concluded her Twitter-storm by offering “How to get applause from GOP donors: 1) Pledge to start a war 2) Talk about job creators 3) Denounce abortion 4) Cite Reagan 5) Cite Israel“.
The candidates had just addressed the need to strengthen the relationship between the US and Israel.
Greenblatt went on to say that “Ms. Coulter is pandering to the basest of her base”, adding “All decent Americans should reject Ms. Coulter’s rhetoric as simply beyond the pale“. Statistics indicate that there are 6.8 million Jewish people living in the United States and Twitter users were quick to respond to her comments, branding them as “anti-Semitic”.
Her Twitter tirade began early in the debate and a string of tweets called out the candidates for what she later called “pandering” to Israel.
