Another Hot Day; Storms Move In Tonight
Savannah, Ga. (WJCL)- It will be a muggy start this morning with temperatures in the low to mid-70s. Feels-like temperatures will be topping 100° at times.
These are the dog days of summer and Sunday and Monday are going to feel like it. Temperatures are expected to soar into the 90s on Sunday, with high humidity pushing the heat index near 100 degrees. There is an increased risk for heat related illnesses if you don’t take the necessary precautions exposed to that kind of heat. Right now our greatest chance for rain looks to be during the Thursday/Friday timeframe and some storms may be strong or severe. Any lone storm could be quite potent, with strong winds and hail. The activity will be slow moving or almost stationary and expanding in size with time before dissipating.
Showers and storms are starting to pop in our western counties this afternoon and will continue to move east throughout the evening. Birmingham may reach 100° for the first time this year on Monday. The heat should start to build again on Saturday with fewer storms and highs back in the mid to upper 90s.
There’s about a 20 percent chance of storms this afternoon, with more clouds along the Front Range. Fingers crossed that this pattern change actually happens.
