Another U.S. campus shooting kills 1
According to preliminary reports, the fight started over a dice game in the outside courtyard of the Floyd-Payne Campus Center.
The move came after Thursday night’s fatal shooting of a man on campus involving those who were not TSU students.
After Thursday night’s deadly shooting on the Tennessee State University campus, many are asking what’s being done to keep students safe.
TSU officials said an emergency alert was sent out to students around 11:20 p.m. The two other women were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center to be treated for non-life threatening injuries, said university spokesman Emmanuel Freeman.
“It’s hard to issue protection to all of north Nashville particularly when Tennessee is such a gun friendly state”, she said. The third woman remains hospitalized in stable condition and is expected to recover.
Greater than a day after the shooting, which apparently happened over a dice game, cops officers have provided a reward of $6,000 for any info resulting in assist in identifying & arresting the shooters.
Stone said she did not have any further details about the incident.
Police are still searching for the person responsible for the shootings.
University President Glenda Glover in a statement said she was shaken by the “heinous crime”, which she said involved two men not enrolled in the school. University police dispatchers said they couldn’t release any information.
The incident comes just over a week after three people were wounded by gunfire at an off-campus party across the street from the school.
Authorities say three people have been shot at Tennessee State University in Nashville.
According to Kelli Sharpe, TSU’s Assistant VP of Public Relations, TSU will resume it’s normal schedule of operation, including all activities.
She says police are “all over the scene” and there’s no indication of an active shooter.
The area was evacuated and the campus has been on lockdown with police cars blocking off the entrance to the site.
