Another USC head coach falls victim to the Sun Devil Stadium hex
The offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach has been at USC for six years, and has already held the title of interim head coach when he led the Trojans to a 2013 Las Vegas Bowl title after Lane Kiffin was sacked and Ed Orgeron left the program after he wasn’t given the full time position.
He said Sarkisian violated agreed upon expectations and didn’t live up to conduct expected of Trojans coaches.
“I still think when you talk about beating USC it still carries a lot of weight because people know the talent they have on that football team”, he said.
Notre Dame had a huge need in the secondary this year and so far they have done an excellent job filling that need. “I expect USC to respond the same way”. “When I first saw him, I was like, ‘Whoa! I look forward to working with Pat Haden as our USC AD for many years to come”.
Southern California interim head coach Clay Helton speaks with the media during a press conference after an NCAA college football practice in Los Angeles Tuesday, October 13, 2015.
“I’ve done this job before. The staff has been just incredible in helping Jack have a great experience”, Patty Salmond said.
Coach Muffet McGraw said the biggest question facing Notre Dame is who will replace Loyd as the player to take clutch shots.
“I’m not one that kicks a man while he is down”.
The Trojans are 3-2 after starting the season in the Top 25 polls.
That’s quite a change from when the rivalry’s heyday in the ’60s and ’70s when the victor won six AP national titles, with Notre Dame winning in 1966, ’73 and ’74.
Vaughn, who has ranked as a safety but also can play cornerback, said his versatility is one of main reasons he liked the on-field fit with the Irish.
Prior to selecting Notre Dame on Monday, Vaughn picked up scholarship offers from the likes of Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss, Miami, Texas A&M, and Wisconsin.
He advised all players to take the high road and be first class when they are asked about any controversy and encouraged them not to discuss Sarkisian.
Helton will likely call plays, a role he partially handled even when Sarkisian was on the sideline.
“You have to be yourself”, Helton said. “You have to be yourself, and you have to coach it your own way”.
“A lot of these guys, fortunately or unfortunately, have been in this situation before”, Helton said.
