‘Ant-Man 2’ Trailer & News: Plot Features Wasp & Giant Man? Director Teases
Marvel’s Ant-Man is now out in cinemas, making decent-if-not-Avengers-sized money and garnering a fair collection of positive reviews.
With last summer’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” serving as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) most serious film to date and “Guardians of the Galaxy” its most fun, “Age of Ultron” provided a solid mixture of both, even if it did divide some audiences concerning its overall quality (I’m not one of them).
Rudd went through extensive gymnastic training and a workout regimen to be as convincing as possible: even purchasing a large ant farm to see how they worked together. Also, being a super-hero film, the antagonist is too generic and inconsequential to register.
“I am exhausted of this Marvel movie trope where the bad guy has the same powers as the hero”.
The plot is pretty basic: Paul Rudd plays Scott Lang, who after serving time for a Robin Hood-esque anti-corporate crime is having difficulty holding a job as well as winning back the love of his estranged daughter. Given this possibility, early speculations on who will the next villain of Hank Pym and the gang be, is a worthwhile endeavor. Scott finds a suit when he breaks into the safe; once home, he puts it on.
The rest you can probably guess.
“I’m gonna call him Antony”. Hank Pym created the Ant-Man suit but with the threat of Darren Cross and his Yellowjacket technology, Pym needed someone to wear the suit and to importantly stop him before he unleashed a deadly weapon.
The film takes on a more comedic coloring than Marvel’s Avenger-based movies. Ant-Man is a hit.
The tongue-in-cheek story begins with Scott Lang, a small-time thief, being released from jail and reuniting with his carefree gang friends – who serve as his comic sidekicks. But then Wright backed out, ominously citing creative differences.
Director Peyton Reed revealed that “there was a lot of dancing that happened on the movie“. Evangeline Lilly as the mad Young and unfortunately named Hope has a better deal and I hope the next episode allows her to spread her wasp wings. While most spend the first two-thirds of their run time blending character development, comedy and action, the focus invariably changes to complete action in the final third, resulting in climaxes that are big, but never as nuanced or surprising as what came before.
Watch the trailer of “Ant-Man”. That said, it is constantly entertaining, and is packs far more punch than one might expect from an ant among giants. Michael Pena provides comic relief as Lang’s buddy, Luis. This weekend, Marvel Studios took another big risk with another lesser-known superhero when they premiered their latest superpowered flick, “Ant-Man“.
