Anthony Joshua is just a ‘cash cow’ says Deontay Wilder
Yes that’s the question. People knew Ortiz. Even though his following is not big, they understand and know who he is.
“When you’re dealing with Luis Ortiz, they didn’t want to fight him”.
But I think the fact remains: I am the most risky man in the heavyweight division. There’s no way around that; it’s simply a fact of the sport. This is the best fight in boxing that can be made. The only thing missing is convincing the public that he’s the genuine article.
If he’d been born in another era, they’d be measuring him for the bronze statue by this point.
Deontay Wilder insists “no man” can beat him – including Anthony Joshua. Only Bermane Stiverne was able to go the distance in 2015, but in their rematch previous year, Wilder knocked him out as well.
The hope of fight fans-and the promoters who stand to reap a windfall from it-is that the showdown will match Wilder and Joshua, the division’s 1 and 1A, who in terms of skill are no Ali and Frazier but are likely to mesh well style-wise.
“When I think about Luis Ortiz, I see threes”. I’ve been saying it for years.
The American, who fights Luis Ortiz on Saturday, told the BBC: “I don’t believe Hearn wants this fight at all”. Everyone who keeps up with me was looking at Ortiz as ‘The Boogeyman, ‘ because that was spreading around. I will knock him out and then I will unify the division. Ortiz is 6-4, 240 – and 38 years old. Because of that, my prediction is Wilder catches Ortiz and ends the fight in the 5.
Ortiz (28-0) was forced to withdraw from a fight with Wilder (39-0) last November after failing a drugs test, and the reigning champion duly dispatched stand-in Bermane Stiverne with a brutal knockout. Marvin Hagler used to get dropped in sparring a lot, Mike Tyson got dropped in sparring’. Ortiz hasn’t looked anything close to special since he devastated Bryant Jennings in seven rounds back on December 19, 2015. There ain’t no more time.
On the other side of the Barclays Center ring combat zone we have an opponent practically similar to Wilder.
The victor of that fight would then claim all of the existing five heavyweight belts. “He has insulted me and has said too many dumb things”. Ortiz is Wilder’s toughest test and poses a substantial threat. The measuring stick for all big fights is the first fight between “Smokin” Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali back in March of 1971.
“This is the fight game and everybody knows that you need to have confidence to be in it”. Wilder is explosive, Joshua deliberate.
When the 32-year-old heard what Hearn has planned Joshua, he took it as Hearn not having faith in his fighter. That first round knock out by Wilder sent the WBC beltholder’s “hype meter” through the roof.
Perhaps one of the best ways of distinguishing between the top fighters is by talking to people who have shared the ring with more than one of them. That is just the first time they got caught. Sparring has been wonderful and I’m totally prepared for Deontay Wilder. “I’m still going to knock him out in the ring, but he’s going to get some money to support his family and I want to provide that for [him]”.
Ortiz said: “Deontay is scared”.
I don’t know what to make of this fight in all honesty.
“We want to see the very best beat the very best, if they want to get to the very top, and I know Joshua does”.
