Anthony Martial is a star in the making, says Ranieri
Willy Sagnol believes that Manchester United striker Anthony Martial is mature beyond his age.
Sagnol, 38, is a former coach of the France under-21 team and saw enough in Martial to call on him when he was only 17.
Record teenage-signing Anthony Martial has netted three times in his first two Premier League games for Manchester United.
Though many people questioned the size of the transfer fee associated with the France international’s move from Monaco, with various sources such as the BBC suggesting it was £36 million and possibly rising to £58 million, the former England star lauded the 19-year-old, claiming he had been sensational in his few appearance so far.
Martial scored two goals in a 3-2 victory over Southampton at St Mary’s, propelling United up to second pace in the Premier League table.
The Italian told the Mirror: “The sporting director told me there was a good striker with Lyon”.
“It’s easy to say “Oh guys, I warned you!” Then at the end of the season, the sporting director said “Claudio, there’s an opportunity to buy this guy”.
What’s for certain is that when I selected him for the U21s and gave him a cap, he was seventeen years old and was already playing in the CFA with Monaco.
With the Frenchman being the man on the lips of every Red Devils supporter right now, we’ve taken this moment to devise a list of five things you may not know about United’s third most expensive signing of all-time.
“Maybe he would not be involved in the game with his team then suddenly – whoosh, he comes to life”.
