Anti-abortion protesters rally at Planned Parenthood sites

As many abortion supporters say, poor women would be without healthcare if it weren’t for Planned Parenthood.

A horrific new video released by the Center For Medical Progress shows the CEO of a firm that buys tissue from Planned Parenthood laughing about shipping fully intact fetuses and joking that such packages should carry warning labels to alert those opening it that an intact baby is inside.

These protesters along with many others across the country want to see Planned Parenthood investigated.

“Yes, the photo at the end of the newest video about Planned Parenthood is Walter”, declares Fretz. “They are engaged in a fraud meant to deceive the public and other claims they’ve made have been disproven and discredited”.

“I absolutely do believe that they have violated laws in terms of how they secured these videos”, said Dawn Laguens, executive vice president of Planned Parenthood.

But even with the increase attention and opposition, Aaron Samulcek, the Chief Operating Officer of Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri, said they’re staying positive.

She said the group also wants to help support women who are pregnant to dissuade them from choosing abortion. He and his wife dealt with infertility for more than a decade and lost a biological daughter who was stillborn at six months gestation.

That effort may not accomplish all that much; while many conservatives (and a few presidential candidates) would like to shut down the government in order to “defund” the group, that probably won’t happen, and efforts by states to discover that Planned Parenthood is doing something illegal have come up empty. Medicaid reimbursement is allowed on abortions only when a woman’s life is in danger or when pregnancy is caused by rape or incest, according to federal law.

A January Michigan complaint indicates Gittler is performing abortions at Planned Parenthood without a proper drug control license, which is required by licensed medical doctors in the state.

The ad employs the tactic of cutting to heartstring-tugging images; an older gentleman asking about his VA Benefits, an elderly woman asking about Medicare, a small business owner, and a mother. And while Becker said he knew of no adverse actions throughout the morning, several counter protesters said they were called names, spat at and Williams said one her signs was torn from her hand and destroyed. The request for an emergency injunction centers around three Planned Parenthood clinics cited for illegally performing second-trimester abortions while holding only a license for first-trimester abortions.

A spokesman for Planned Parenthood said Friday night that the undercover film was politically motivated. No matter that the majority of Americans support legalized abortions. When asked about partnering with Planned Parenthood directly rather than through its affiliates, Nucatola mentioned StemExpress as one company that had approached them.

“In the event that they intend to perform surgical procedures, the department would send a subsequent survey team out to ensure compliance with” the law, Hobart said.
