Anti-apartheid veteran back in hospital
She said he was readmitted for an inflammation – not related to his prostate cancer, neither to a previous infection which caused his last two admissions to hospital.
His daughter said the doctors were not tackling the same infection anymore but were now treating him for “inflammation”, without specifying where. His daughter the Reverend Canon Mpho Tutu said it was a “caution case not crisis”.
Mpho said her father’s current treatment has nothing to do with the prostrate cancer he’s been battling over the last few years. Tutu, 83, was hospitalized on Jul. 28 for each one week after a keep in hospital earlier in Jul.
There is growing concern for the health of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu.
Tutu, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 for his efforts to end apartheid in his native South Africa, has remained active well into his 80s with the Desmond Tutu Peace Foundation and other organizations.
