Anton Stephans is axed from X Factor
Things have been tense between the hopeful and the X Factor judge, after Nick branded Anton’s performance as “fake” during Saturday night’s live show (21 November).
He was in the bottom two for the second week in a row, this time alongside Che Chesterman. It was the three other judges, Rita Ora, Nick Grimshaw, and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, versus Simon, so the three-to-one judges’ votes were not enough to make Anton stay in the competition.
Eliminated finalist Seann Miley Moore has been chosen by the judges to join the remaining acts – plus Noise and Stephans – on the show’s live tour.
Anton was sent home from The X Factor, after facing Che Chesterman in the sing off. The singer said that while there are other contestants left in the competition who have incredible voices, the duo’s enthusiasm and hard work means they are serious contenders to win the show. “I’m saving you because as much as I like you Che, I’ve become good friends with Anton now”.
He told Nick Grimshaw, with whom he has previously clashed: “Nick, I know we had some songs but let’s just forget it”. Thank you also to Nick. “I think you need to put it in perspective with everything that’s going on in the world”, he said. This is the most wonderful.
“It feels technical. I don’t know if you’re the kind of artist I’d want to listen to on the radio or buy the album”, the Boys’ mentor explained. Because they are incredible!
In a final dig at Boys mentor Nick, Anton insisted: “Regardless of what everyone says, I’ll be played on the radio and Radio 1 because one person’s point of view isn’t the whole”.
“I was happy each week I was there, performing on stage for millions of people”.
At the beginning of the episode, the contestants performed Rihanna’s “We Found Love”.
The X Factor continues at 8pm on ITV, Saturday November 28.
