AP Power Rankings: Cowboys still in No. 1 spot
The Cowboys play the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday night (Dec. 1) in a game that would be the first step toward clinching that playoff spot.
The Cowboys’ recipe for success this season is no secret. That requires figuring out how this Vikings offense can get to 28 points.
The 6-5 Vikings have mustered just 16.5 points per game during their current slide, which leaves them sitting alongside Tampa Bay and a half-game back of the Washington Redskins in the race for the final NFC wild card berth. Bradford’s last pass was intercepted, setting up the winning field goal. The play likely would have gone for a score with a well-thrown pass but, well, it wasn’t even close.
Spielman declined to speculate on whether Zimmer could miss more than Thursday’s game, saying the Vikings are taking his situation a day at a time.
For most teams, facing Minnesota’s offensive linemen means their defensive linemen padding their season sack totals and hitting performance bonuses. This will absolutely be Prescott and Elliott’s biggest test to this point.
It appears that Prescott might have taken that comment a bit too literal. Maybe giving up a first round draft pick for Sam Bradford was a mistake after all.
COWBOYS WR Dez Bryant had 5-72 receiving on 7 targets in Week 12 win. After the video, a picture of Zimmer was put on the big screen with a “Get Well Soon” message attached.
At a glance, Bradford has done an admirable job considering he joined the Vikings just days before the season opener, In 10 starts, Bradford has completed 71.3 percent of his passes and thrown 12 touchdowns with just three interceptions. The Vikings’ playoff hopes are not completely over with yet despite an unfortunate month of football.
If you have a hard time remembering what day it is, you have something in common with the Dallas Cowboys. But the best argument will always be about the matchups – and we’ll get a must-see showdown tonight when the 10-1 Cowboys take on the 6-5 Vikings in Minnesota. Then came his incompletion and the non-call on Thornton. And if Dallas earns a first-round bye?
Bradford led an eight-play, 65-yard drive that began with just over two minutes remaining, pulling Minnesota within two points. Their downfall has made the Vikings the underdogs in their own stadium against the Cowboys. That would be the most carries by a rookie in team history and the sixth most overall.
Prescott has 2,835 passing yards to go along with 18 touchdowns this season.
“There’s a selfless nature to them that I think is really good, and it’s one of the best offensive lines I’ve ever been around”, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. Dallas now ranks second in the National Football League in rushing with 157.3 yards per game along with 19 touchdown runs on the season.
On Thanksgiving, the Cowboys responded to all three fourth-quarter touchdowns scored by the Redskins.
