The event, dubbed Imagine: John Lennon 75th Birthday Concert, saw performances from Eric Church, Sheryl Crow, Steven Tyler and individual sets from Kristofferson, Nelson and Stapleton at one of America’s biggest venues, New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
It was outside his luxury apartment building on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, near Central Park, that Chapman ended the ex-Beatles star’s life, firing several shots and leaving Lennon with severe wounds in his chest, back and left arm. Chapman was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison and was last denied parole in August 2014. I am sorry for being such an idiot and choosing the wrong way for glory’.

Heartbroken fans gathered on Mathew Street and outside Lennon’s apartment in NY within hours of his death. Lennon wanted to have his wife in the picture with him.
Police said the shooting occurred outside the Dakota, the century-old luxury apartment house where Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono, lived.
Lennon was taken to Roosevelt Hospital in a police radio auto and was pronounced dead on arrival in the emergency room….
