APNewsBreak: Adele, Kendrick Lamar to perform at Grammys

Adele will be performing at the “Oscars” of the music world, the Grammys, next month, despite not being nominated for anything at the prestigious event. Ten-time Grammy victor Adele, 27, will perform at Grammy for the first performance since 2012.

The British singer has not been nominated this year because her comeback album “25” was released in November, outside the eligibility period for Grammy consideration.

The delay had become increasingly antiquated in the age of social media, with viewers in the very city where the Grammys are taking place hearing about the winners online before they could watch on television.

The Hello singer is joined by other performers like Grammy nominee leader Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd and Little Big Town in the newly-announced line-up. The Weeknds Beauty Behind the Madness is also up for seven awards.

Another person to receive more than one nomination at the award is Nicki Minaj, who is up in the categories of best rap album, best rap Performance and best rap/sung collaboration.

Adeles latest commercial juggernaut 25 isnt eligible for this years awards (so if you were hoping to see her sweep yet again, youll have to wait until next year).

“Winning a Grammy would inspire women to continue to rap and write and to never give up”, she told HITS Daily Double. Prior to my three albums, I put out three mixtapes, which also changed the game for women in rap.

LL Cool J will host the 58th annual Grammy Awards, to air live on CBS from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
