Apple confirms launch of two UAE stores on October 29
The Dubai store is in Mall of the Emirates, Al Barsha and will open at 4pm on October 29, while the Abu Dhabi store is in Yas Mall, Yas Island and will open at 7pm around the same time.
Last month, as per a report on Macrumors, Apple CEO Tim Cook was asked by India Prime Minister Narendra Modi to consider building a manufacturing plant in the country, and Cook reportedly suggested to ease complicated laws of establishing an Apple Store in India.
The now company-operated store employs 18, who reflect the diversity of the United Arab Emirates. However, Apple addresses it by becoming partners with Tata, so Apple shops are inside Croma stores in the region, said Engadget.
It is believed the Dubai Apple Store, which will open in the now-vacated Vox Cinema space, will be the largest in the world.
Each location will not only have the same wooden tables as a typical Apple store, but will have Apple-trained employees, the same lighting elements, and products will be displayed in the same manner.
During the “reveal” of the Mall of the Emirates’ $1 billion extension on September 28, the mall’s management had chosen to remain tight-lipped about the Apple Store. The first is located in the ‘Yas Mall’ and the second is located in the ‘Mall of the Emirates’. The company just recently updated its store locations page to incorporate the two stores in UAE, reporting the openings of both stores too.
In August, The National reported the UAE was a target market for the technology giant.
