Apple iMac Pro: Thoughts?

Coming along with the new processors is an update to Intel’s Iris Pro Graphics 640, which offers better overall performance.

Those looking for a more powerful device with some extra oomph, however, should consider the beefier MacBook Pro, which also got neat upgrades. Widely expected to launch in March, Apple ended up surprising many fans by launching a different iPad entirely. The Wi-Fi+Cellular model is priced at Rs 63,900 for 64GB variant, Rs 71,900 for 256GB version and Rs 87,900 for the 512GB variant. The MacBook Pro and MacBook Air line-up of laptops are the best in their class, only recently being outdone by what Microsoft Surface devices are capable of. But now, getting a 4K display will only cost you $200 more, as Apple offers the high-resolution screen in $1,299 and $1,499 configurations.

“By comparison, the 128GB version of the iPad Pro 9.7” now retails at around $650 on Amazon.com, while refurbished 32GB version can even be purchased for under $425. Apple has declared that the new iMac will available to start to buy on Monday through apple.com, and it will be available in Apple Stores starting on Wednesday.

This begins with the processor and chipset included in the next-generation iPad Pro.

The specs certainly bear out Apple’s description …

There is no doubt that the new iPad Pro range will outperform the old 9.7-inch model.

The iPad pro also features a screen refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, which should make for faster scrolling and graphics display. The tablet is claimed to go into huge manufacture by the end of the second quarter of 2017. The improvements reflect Apple’s intentions for the iPad Pro to be interpreted as a true productivity-focused device.

How does the new A10X Fusion chip perform? It’s fast enough in its own right – navigating Apple’s menus was as nippy as ever – but there’s something special up Tim Cook’s sleeve this year for the latest chip to take advantage of. Music-making on iPad often relies on having multiple instruments working in tandem with routing apps such as Audiobus, and the new features should hopefully make the music-making process smoother and easier.

Now, though, with the iPad Pro, it’s a thing.

Like before, the 21.5-inch version starts at $1,099 with a 1,920 x 1,080 display.

This is definitely a great tablet to watch movies on since it has True Tone display, wide colour gamut, 600 nit brightness and Ultralow reflectivity. After just a day of using it, I’m not going to opine on its performance – especially since the 2016 MacBook I have to compare it to is a 2016 core m7.

The 12-inch Retina Display also remains exactly the same, not that we’re complaining. It features 4K video capture, wide colour capture, a six-element lens and quad-LED True Tone Flash. In other words, close to ten hours of video playback on a single charge.

The next generation iPad Pro tablets can be considered incremental updates to the already successful computing system rather than massive upgrades.

Although Apple updated the MacBook and MacBook Pro notebooks with seventh-generation Intel processors – the architecture dubbed “Kaby Lake” by the California-based silicon designer and manufacturer – talk during the keynote was limited to the iMac, Apple’s all-in-one desktop.
