Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Updates iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro
The event started on Monday, June 5, and it will continue until June 9. It was also combined with powerful new iPad features in iOS 11 coming this fall.
During Apple’s WWDC keynote, the company updated both its iMac and MacBook lineup with 7th generation Kaby Lake processors, better GPUs, better displays, and so on – good, solid speed bumps all around. The new display is also a little brighter, and a little faster-refreshing, all of which Apple says will make a big difference to how the users use it.
It’s not the promised Mac Pro re-reboot, but Apple hopes it’s the next best thing – the company today said the new iMac Pro workstation, billed as the most powerful Mac released to date, will ship in December, starting at $4,999.
The iMac Pro supports the CPU and GPU processing power with other choice components.
The new iPads feature an A10X chip that is set to provide a 30% performance boost over the outgoing iPad Pros.
And while the upcoming version of Apple’s mobile OS looks great for the iPhone, the iPad is where it will really shine. The iMac Pro was definitely designed for pro customers.
Despite the massive leap in computational power, Apple claims they will be able to maintain the same thin iMac design by increasing the cooling efficiency by up to 80%. This is owing to Apple’s new all-flash architecture and all-new thermal design. Users who want more from their PC, Apple has got them covered. Now also included with it is discrete graphics and more video memory. However, there is also the option of AMD Radeon Pro 555 with 2GB of VRAM or Radeon Pro 560 with 4GB of VRAM.
It’s not a good time to buy a pro-level desktop from Apple. Also, the iMac Pro supports up to 4TB of SSD and up to 128GB of ECC memory. Not to mention the impressive 12 core GPU which only adds more value to the overall device. 10Gb Ethernet is on board. This ensures up to 10 times faster networking.
New iPads: Apple showed off new versions of its personal tablet, as well, which features ProMotion – a software improvement that increases the refresh rate to smooth out streamed video. Of course, the highest specs will come at a price that has yet to be announced.
