Apple Introduces New ‘Shopping’ Category for the App Store
Apple has added a new category to its App Store, allowing iPhone and iPad and Apple TV users to shop for… shopping apps.
The removal of the shopping big guns will surely give those apps with a genuine lifestyle focus a little more room to breathe.
Earlier it was said in report that Apple may enter into Shopping Category, now, it is officially announced. Apps for these retailers will be included in a “Save While You Shop” section within the new Shopping category. It will broadly include apps that help shoppers in finding deals, discounts and coupons, be abreast with the latest trends, read product details, find price of products and more.
Apple plans to use the Shopping category to highlight apps that support Apple Pay, its mobile payments service. There are sections for department stores, groceries, fashion and more.
With the launch of “Shopping” category there is more scope of higher sales for App store developers and better business opportunities such as Amazon and Walmart. In addition to that, it will make the Lifestyle app also less clutter. Zappos is giving customers free one-day shipping and access to products that will only be available through the app, such as apparel from The North Face and UGG.
