Apple iPad Pro with Apple Pencil – Release Date, Price, Specs & Features

The iPhone is crushing all before it: A new 12-megapixel camera and “3D Touch” functionality are decent upgrades to the world’s bestselling phone. The most innovative feature here is the 3D touch and Apple has apparently been working on it for years.

Keeping up with its tradition to not reveal any information, Apple has managed to keep its users’ interest alive through the cryptic tagline: “Hey Siri, give us a hint”. This automatically (the user doesn’t have to do anything) takes frames before and after a photo – with sound.

If there was one thing we were sure of from this event, it was new iPhones. And when you stop pressing, you’re back in your message. I used 3D Touch to quickly post a status update – “Hi” – on a test Facebook account.

While you’re peeking at an email, you can swipe left to delete it or right to mark it as unread.

Another great addition is the Retina flash mechanism, where the display of the Apple iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.

The upcoming iPad features 8 MP iSight rear camera. The iPad Air 2 is best for “Netflix and chill”. There are new charging docs to match the colors of the iPhones as well as new covers. But that’s not the case for the 5.5-inch 6s Plus: it not only has optical image stabilization (introduced on the previous-generation model) but adds stabilization for videos for the first time.

The new iPhones will go on pre-sale on September 12 and will hit stores on September 25.

As someone who prefers an iPad Mini over the full-size version, I’m probably not the right customer for an even larger iPad. The iPad Pro is aimed squarely at the enterprise and professional market where Microsoft (MSFT) has been making headway with its Surface Pro – although the big iPad’s gaming and movie viewing capabilities were also featured. In other words, when you draw a line, it happens immediately – you won’t notice that you’re using a digital pen. But when you first see the iPad Pro next to a human, it is startlingly huge. When you choose a black pencil, it comes out gray, like a real pencil.

Apple also revamped its Apple TV set-top box with a new interface and remote. Siri offers voice support such as turning on subtitles, rewinding or forwarding videos and so on. And when you encounter dialogue that’s mumbled, just say, “What did she say?”

Both iPads run iOS 9, but while they’re nearly identical the larger screen of the iPad Pro makes the side-by-side apps in iOS 9 even more useful: it effectively delivers split-screen multitasking in much the same way a certain Microsoft operating system does.
