Apple iPhone 6s vs Samsung Galaxy S6: Which is best?
Having an easily understood upgrade path without puzzles such as “what’s the difference between the S6 Edge Plus and the Note 5?” makes purchasing choices simple.
Even Apple, Samsung’s old nemesis and No. 1 critic of smartphones with displays bigger than 5 inches, has joined the bandwagon. Irrespective of what has changed or what is new compared to the previous generation, looking at both phones like-for-like, the iPhone 6s Plus just seems to provide more impressive functionality and better usability. It lets select up to five contacts and assign them colors that flash up when they are calling.
It’s probably the best iPhone yet and if you’re an Apple fan that’s all you’ll need to know, but if you’re more platform agnostic it’s worth considering the Samsung Galaxy S6, LG G4 or Sony Xperia Z5, all of which are worthy Android competitors. It also depends on personal preference on whether you prefer iOS, which is more secured or opt for Android OS which gives you more freedom in terms of customization. Apple beefed up the internals, added a faster processor, and improved the camera in a way that could have them taking back the crown of best smartphone camera. This may sound quite smaller on paper, but in practice it’s no bad thing, as the Galaxy S6 only lasted 40 minutes more than the iPhone 6 in our continuous video playback test. Given the more energy-efficient processor in the iPhone 6S, we expect the battery life to increase a little on the new model, so expect the phones to have both have similar battery life.
iPhone 6s introduces an entirely new way to interact with your phone.
The battery in the current iPhone 6 is an 1810 mAh unit, which means the new battery in the iPhone 6S is smaller by around 5 percent. That said, these are still the two biggest iPhone’s ever, and buyers love them. However, Apple claims that the battery capacity is good enough to offer talktime of up to 14 hours on 3G, up to 11 hours HD video playback and up to 50 hours of music playback.
A new feature called “Live Photos” automatically takes still shots 1.5 seconds before and after the main image and lets users view an animated picture as a mini movie.
16GB model remains, despite the fact that 16GBs of storage is only suited to the lightest of users.
iPhone 6s: As anticipated, the iPhone 6s includes Force Touch, renamed “3D Touch”, described by Apple as the next generation on multi touch.
The Galaxy S6 Edge+ has a 16MP rear with flash and a 5MP front facing camera. It’s always on, too, so you don’t have to do anything extra in order to take them. The major under-the-hood improvements that Apple has packed into its latest flagship smartphone, coupled with the refinement added by Samsung for its own top-of-the-line offering, make this a very interesting comparison.
