Apple iPhone 7 prices leaked before launch date
The company is also expected to unveil the second version of the Apple Watch. The event will take place at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco and will start at 10am local time (6pm BST).
We may be labelling it as the iPhone 7 launch, but Apple will definitely drop some other bombs during the press event. Invitations to the event were sent out this morning, with Apple simply saying “See you on the 7th”, The Verge says.
The new iPhone models are expected to come in multiple flavours, similar to the iPhone 5, 5S and 5C range.
The new iPhone is also anticipated to have fewer antenna lines and a dual camera system for the larger model.
Given the confirmed features so far, iPhone 7 is likely to retain the existing Lightning port while dropping the highly-rumoured headphone jack from its arsenal. There has been a furore over the past year about rumours of Apple possibly removing the headphone jack from its next flagship phone.
That means that iPhone users who have upgraded their headphones to another brand will have to use an adapter or buy new headphones. The move is aimed at making upcoming iPhone models even slimmer. If that’s the case, then the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will be released on September 16.
The new iPhone is expected to keep the iPhone 6 design cues, but not much is expected to change. Previous reports have suggested that an iPhone 7 Pro is coming as well. U.S. pricing will be announced during the event, while United Kingdom prices will be sent out to journalists later that evening. Apple are expected to announce the omission of the 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Apple Watch, a product that hasn’t been updated since April 2015, is also due for an upgrade.
