Apple iPhone sales top 13 million in opening weekend
Apple gave us a heads up that it was expecting a huge weekend opener for its new flagships: the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
Apple has also unveiled new lease and finance terms for USA customers, which analysts said could boost sales and shorten the upgrade cycle, at a time when carriers are moving away from smartphone subsidies.
That beats the old record for the iPhone 6 which managed a cool 10 million models in that same time previous year.
The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus introduced 3D Touch, a feature allowing the touchscreen to measure inputs based on how much pressure is applied to the display.

That’s 3m ahead of the opening weekend sales of its predecessor, iPhone 6. The new smartphones from Apple will roll out worldwide to more than 40 additional countries and territories beginning October 9.
With the addition of Chia and New Zealand, this year’s launch included 12 markets, up from last year’s 10.
“Sales for iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus have been phenomenal, blowing previous any earlier first weekend sales leads to Apple’s historical past”, Tim Cook, Apple’s chief government, stated in a press release.
The iPhone’s ability to draw crowds of eager buyers is undiminished, as sales of two modestly improved models illustrated the past weekend.
These features are believed to have become a great help with the increase of the Apple’s iPhone 6s and 6s Plus record breaking sales.
“The most popular variants have been anything with rose gold, all the plus models have been extremely popular, and 64GB has been the most in demand memory size”, said Vodafone Sales Director Ben McIntosh. Market researcher IDC says Apple shipped (as opposed to sold) 3.6 million Watches during the second quarter, placing it second in the wearables market behind Fitbit’s 4.4 million.
