Apple is developing charging tech that works from a distance
But in 2017, according to a new report from Bloomberg, Apple might start adding an advanced type of wireless charging – one that works over a distance – to its gadgets. According to Bloomberg, Apple is now trying to overcome these issues, and the wireless charging technology is still being assessed for implementation.
Though not revolutionary, the technology could give Apple an extra edge to help it stay competitive with rivals like Samsung that have already released devices with wireless charging capabilities.
Wireless charging of smartphones is nothing new.
Apple isn’t the only company working on long-range wireless charging, and in fact Bloomberg says Apple is working with partners in the USA and Asia.
The latest versions of the iPhone did not really go too high on the battery but the response was good in terms of battery power.
The rumored iPhone 5se may seem like a product that’s come out of nowhere, but a new report claims Apple finished development and production on its new 4-inch smartphone months ago. Chip vendors Broadcom and Qualcomm are also developing technologies and standards for wireless charging.
However, as research continues, that’s bound to change; and Apple can no longer be left off the wireless bandwagon. But when switched to the second state, the coil would be used to wirelessly charge a device when connected to a wireless charger.
Using an inductive charging mat, or magnetic charging cable with the Apple Watch, still requires physical contact between the device being charged and the charger, which remains wired.
The new technology will allow the devices to charge faster and further away from the power source combatting the earlier technical challenges.
