Apple is Gifting ‘The Roundhouse’ With Environmental Upgrades
Apple has hosted the iTunes Festival in London for eight years and this year renamed it the Apple Music Festival in honour of the launch of Apple Music.
One Direction will kick off the United Kingdom and Irish leg of their On The Road Again Tour with six nights at London’s O2 Arena from Thursday, September 24, as well as headlining the Apple Music Festival at the Roundhouse in London tonight, supported by special guests Little Mix.
Four songs into the 15-track set an emotional Howard Donald said: “This gig is like a thank you for all the supporters of Take That”.
“It is so nice to have you so close”. “This is a handsome, intimate venue – we don’t get to play these places enough”.
The trio – also comprised of Gary Barlow and Mark Owen – opened their show with “Shine”, before launching into “Greatest Day” and recent hit “Get Ready For It”.
The band performed on a simple stage with a backing band and red lighting.
But there was one thing which made the night even better – the next up band was 1D.
New tracks included an acapella version of The End, the song that prompted Perrie to break down in tears when the girls performed it in America earlier in the summer, and very brief preview of upcoming single Love Me Like You, which is available to download from Friday.
Laura Hyams travelled from Bishop Stortford and met fellow super-fan Ali Adams from Bromley to set up camp just before 4am.
She added, “What a unique concert experience, not only for the fans at the Roundhouse, but also for fans across the globe who can stream it live!”
“Grown is so good, I am still not over it”, wrote another. This year One Direction, Pharrell Williams, Disclosure, Florence + The Machine Take That, The Weeknd, and The Chemical Brothers are playing.
