Apple makes Siri smarter, rolls out software improvements
Apple used yesterday’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) to smarten up its HomeKit home-automation platform, adding control of Wi-Fi security cameras and unveiling an Apple-designed Home app that will unify control of multiple brands of HomeKit-certified products. He called the shooting a “senseless, unconscionable act of terrorism and hate aimed at dividing and destroying”, and noted that Apple makes a point of celebrating its diversity before asking the crowd to rise and take part in a moment of silence.
Lockscreen: Apple says iOS 10 focuses on enhancing the user experience, and keeping that thing in mind, the company has worked on redesigned lock screen, rich notifications, expanded 3D Touch and quick interactions with apps.
Apple’s “Live Photos” feature-the GIF-like animated stills introduced in iOS 9-are also getting some few features, including image stabilization, the ability to add filters to them and perform basic edits. “We view this as a positive for Square, which could substantially increase the number of Square Cash users and potentially brand awareness”. Those apps were downloaded 130 million times, and Apple paid nearly $50 billion directly to developers during the last eight years, according to Cook. That’s an important step that Apple needed to take in order keep up with the competition, and to pave the way for Siri to become less of a novelty and more of a powerful platform.
Display: Apple has been granted a patent for a device with a wraparound display, reports 9to5Mac.
It also means that you might have missed some of the updates to Apple’s four main software ecosystems: iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS.
Apple has unveiled a new version of its operating system that – for the first time – includes voice activated commands for laptop and desktop computers. If Apple is making this option available to users, there is a possibility that it will make it to reality. As they allow access, they do so in a very gradual manner: remember when iPhone came out, there was no App Store – heck, we can still barely touch NFC years from launch!
iMessage. The embedding of chatbots within Skype and Facebook Messenger posed a challenge to Apple, which has always centralized access to software within its App Store for a consistent experience. It has a completely new, intuitive interface, its apps now open instantly and it recognizes handwritten characters so messages will not have to be typed.
Well, a new update from Apple may have just solved all of our problems.
The new app also gets subscription services from magazines such as National Geographic, news paper from The Wall Street Journal, and more. “Siri services over two billion requests a week from customers”, said Craig Federighi, senior vice president of software engineering at Apple, during the keynote.
