Apple may be about to change how the iPhone charges
Apple has always been rumored to be planning a product that would offer cable TV channels to cord-cutters, but its current digital TV offerings are mostly centered around its Apple TV service. That year, the company filed an application for a concept that would allow customers to use their personal Apple computer as a wireless charging hub within a 1 meter radius. However, those phones now use induction to charge wirelessly, meaning they must be placed on a wireless charging pad in order to recharge their batteries. We might get wireless Bluetooth earbuds or a Lightning port powered alternative, but here’s one new audio feature we weren’t expecting: noise-cancelling EarPods. This means that Apple could be about to introduce new wireless charging for its iPhones. But these devices need to be put near or on charging mats. According to Bloomberg, however, Apple wants to allow iPhones and iPads to be charged from a distance, ditching the requirement of physical contact.
This quarter’s growth represented a measly 0.4 percent rise from the same time past year, but of course it still sold a record 74.8 million handsets.
Furthermore, the source whose identity has been kept veiled by Bloomberg also revealed that the wireless technology that Apple is currently working on will be far removed from what we have seen till now.
Assuming Apple succeeds in solving the power loss problem (and this report is indeed true), its new charging technology could be out as soon as 2017.
What is worth mentioning here is the fact that Apple applied for a patent in late 2012. According to a recent earnings call, the company’s CEO Jason Rhode might have alluded that the iPhone 7 could come with noise cancelling headphones inside the box of the device.
