Ahead of this year’s iPhone 7 launch and following a recent resurgence of Apple doomsday prepping, we took a quick look at the history of the smartphone industry over the past few years and discussed how it relates to the future.
There have been conflicting reports about Apple exploring a new colorway for its rumored iPhone 5se, but that’s apparently not going to happen. Cook is saying that these users haven’t upgraded their iPhones for more than two years. It is unknown if the iPhone 5se will include 3D Touch, but it will include Touch ID for use with Apple Pay.
According to 9to5Mac, the tech giant is planning to resurrect its iPhone 5 in another variant.
A new report is claiming that the device will come in the usual silver and space gray but there will also be versions that are dipped in rose gold. This transition has casted the 4-inch iPhone as a thing of the past. And if you throw in people still using an iPhone 4 or iPhone 4s, that percentage jumps to over 37%.
iPhone 7 is due for a late release in 2016 if Apple will follow its release schedule, and a new report highlights what could be a game changer for the company’s flagship. It is alleged that this color option will be exclusively available on the more expensive models. It was featured as one of the sixth-generation iPod colors.
Another strategy would add further complexity to the iPhone lineup, but I think customers could handle it. Offer both the 4-inch iPhone 7 and 4.7-inch iPhone 7 for $649 each, but only offer the 4-inch version in the increased storage capacity to offset the difference.
The iPhone 5se is supposedly an upgrade to the iPhone 5s and will reportedly feature a modified design, with the curved edges of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s making their way to a smaller form factor.
Should Apple unveil the new phone next month, it is the latest evidence that Apple will no longer sell only one new model each year to compete with other brands.
Maybe Apple could pull it off as a private company, but Wall Street would surely have a fit if Apple intentionally lowered the iPhone’s average selling price.
That’s also the reason why Apple founder Steve Jobs refused to launch a bigger screen iPhone when he was still at the helm before he died in 2011. The Cupertino company will continue to follow the traditional pattern of releasing the upcoming iPhones in September. Three different iPhones to meet the varied expectations of users all over the globe could be a masterstroke if pulled off. Techno Buffalo reported that the SE stands for special edition. The iPhone 5se is not a replacement for the iPhone 6s. Thus the decision to align its name with the generations old iPhone 5 is somewhat unusual.
