Apple Music arrives on Sonos speakers in beta form December 15
Apple and Sonos today announced that Apple Music will be available on Sonos devices starting December 15.
What’s the best way to gain subscribers to a streaming music service? Listeners will have the ability to stream all their favorite aspects of Apple Music, including For You, New, Radio, and My Music, through Sonos smart speakers tuned for great sound in any or every room of their homes. “The introduction of Apple Music marks an inflection point for streaming and its mass adoption”, said Sonos co-founder and Chief Executive Officer John MacFarlane.
Apple Music subscribers will soon be able to queue up songs from Apple Inc.’s AAPL, +0.87% catalog to wireless speaker systems from Sonos Inc. “We think Apple Music is going to be a catalyst that will raise that percentage even higher”. You’ll then need to choose Beta Program and then Join the Beta Program. Apple Music launched on iOS and iTunes in June, and arrived on Apple TV in November. A final version will be released early next year. One quirky Beats Music feature called The Sentence which let you create radio stations based on MadLib-style questions does not make it over to Apple Music, however, but Apple Music includes a free Internet radio station called Beats 1 with actual radio DJ hosts. Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of software and services, told BuzzFeed that the two companies waited almost six months to integrate because both have high bars for success.
Sonos gives a nod to Apple, saying that Apple Music is “a fantastic service”.
